Read Across America

We will be celebrating Read Across America on Wednesday.  Please remember to have the kids wear their craziest socks and Dr. Seuss hats to school so they can read their socks off!  If you would like your child to have an opportunity at winning a gift card to Barnes and Noble or Park Street books, please send your raffle tickets in by Tuesday.  The money raised from the sale of the raffle tickets will go towards a scholarship for a student from Norfolk who will be entering the field of education.

Google Classroom

I have been exploring this new tool as a way to assign written work to the students.  We are currently working on a persuasive essay.  Your child should be able to show you how he/she accesses the classroom and their individual pieces.  I only ask that you read their writing, but not edit anything.  Everything is still a work in process.  Thank you.

Landform Fun

The students really enjoyed the science investigation on erosion and deposition today.  They are learning how to apply their knowledge of rocks and weathering to this new concept of movement.
Below is a picture of our stream table.  Ask your child to tell you about how we created a new landform during this investigation.

Beginner Band Concert

The students performed wonderfully during the Beginner Band concert yesterday.  It is hard to imagine that they only started to learn how to play a few short months ago.  Their skill is impressive. A few of our classmates were featured in small groups.  Here are a few photos of the event.
