Monthly Read Aloud

100 Pounds of Popcorn is a delightful story about a group of children in the 1960s who go into the popcorn selling business.  The Lemonade War is a current novel about two siblings who try to outsell each other by setting up lemonade stands around their town.  The students have enjoyed both novels and are making wonderful text-to-text connections between the two books.

Science Fun

The students have enjoyed the hands-on activities in our new FOSS kit.  Our first unit of the year is called Structures of Life.  Here the students are enjoying an experiment by counting the number of seeds in a bean pod.

Brag Board

The children are always so eager to share their happy news with me.  I have started a classroom Brag Board.  We are in need of a few more current events to celebrate.  If your child has something to share, please send in a photo that we can post to our board.  New pets, sporting accomplishments or any other proud moment can be posted on our board.

Welcome to Our Room

The past few weeks have been quite busy in room 112.  The students have come to school each day with an eagerness to learn about their surroundings, their classmates and the third grade curriculum.  I have really enjoyed getting to know the students.  It's going to be a fabulous year!
