Thank you to the PTO for sponsoring Art Quest. The students were treated to a chronological history of our state through various forms of artwork. Please ask your children to tell you all about their experience today. You can prompt your son or daughter using the following words: horizon line, portrait, light, setting, watercolors, trained artist, engraving and symbolism.

The Boston Tea Party Museum
If your child has expressed an interest in our recent study of the American Revolution, I would like to recommend a trip to the Boston Tea Party Museum. I have not personally visited the museum, but this past week, Ava did. She was so excited about her experience and would recommend it to all of her classmates. I have included a link to the website if you would like to explore this opportunity for your family. Here is a picture of Ava getting ready to toss some tea into the harbor.

The Mouse and the Motorcycle STEM Activity - Homes for Ralph
Students were presented with the following task. They could work independently or in pairs in our fabulous Makerspace to create their designs. The children were so engaged in the activity. It was fun to see how they chose different materials and to see the variety of designs they came up with.
You and your family have traveled to California and guess
where you are staying? That’s right,
room 215 of the Mountain View Inn. You
and Ralph have become good friends, and since he is now a mouse of great
responsibility, he has asked if he can move out with you to see the world. After vacationing with you, Ralph will be
living in your home. Being a very
independent and proud mouse, Ralph will need his own home within your house. A cage would never do! You need to build a house for Ralph using
materials you find in the Makerspace. Your home for Ralph may or may not
include a garage for his motorcycle. Use
your imagination.
Have Fun!
Chalkbox Kid Mural
The students were so inspired by Gregory, the Chalkbox Kid, that they created their own chalk designs to add to our classroom mural.

Blogging About Reading
This past week the students learned how to use the tools on Kidblog to answer and ask questions about The Chalkbox Kid. I have been pleasantly surprised at how quickly the students have taken to the activity. If you would like to see the posts, please go to mrstrombert.blogspot.com, select Reading Fun from the tabs at the top, select Kidblog and then ask your child to show you the rest. Enjoy!
