Bucket Fillers

Ms. Lassey, our adjustment counselor, visited our class a few weeks ago to introduce our Bucket Filler program to your children.  Ask your children how they can fill your bucket.

Here is the story Ms. Lassey shared with the class.

Here are a few more titles that you might enjoy.

Here is an example of bucket filling in action.

Science in Action - Seed Dispersal

The students had an opportunity today to act as scientists outside of the classroom.  Their task was to modify a seed so that it could disperse in one of five ways.  Each group was given a different task.

Here is an example of how a seed can attach itself to an animal and travel at least 5 meters.

Models were tested to see if the seed could float for at least 4 minutes.

Seeds were engineered to glide at least one meter.

The students needed to figure out how to attract an animal to eat a seed.  Here is a model of a red fruit.

A popular task was figuring out how to propel a seed at least one meter.

Haunted House Mystery Room

Instead of a monthly book project for October, the students will be working on an at home creative writing activity.  Information went home via backpack express today.  Please take the time to look at the last page of the packet for important due date information. I am posting a picture of Mrs. McFadden's room along with a sample of the creative writing assignment.  This sample will go home in backpacks tomorrow.  I hope the students have a lot of fun with this project.
